In this set I tried to bring out the emotions in the photos I took and edited. In numbers 1 and 3 they are more sad depictions. When I put them into black and white they became darker and sadder because they are of roses and a veterans hat next to the veterans memorial in Washington D.C.. In color they were not as sad but putting them through black and white brings out the truly sad and bitterness that the person who placed those items out was probably feeling.

I used light room to edit these pictures and I edited the black and white contrasts after I ran them through the filter. Messing with the contrasts I inverted some of the colors so they came out darker or lighter then what was taken originally. Like number 2 and number 7 I inverted the colors so number 7 became lighter and number 2 became darker.

Black and white in photography makes the images more emotional since they don't have color to give off emotion, the black and white bring out the emotion you might not see if they were in color. For me black and white is a great way to emphasize the darker emotions of photos.

The photos that I personally like are a tie between number 3 and 9/10. 9/10 are abstract and are really amazing in my eyes. The photo I dont particularly like is number 4 because it could have been taken with a better background, its still a good image, just needs a little more work.

When I look at my set as a whole it amazes me because I took raw photos and made them show there true emotions. I truly didn't expect them to turn out as good as they did even though I could have worked more on them I still  like them.

Forth Assignment:

My Leg!!!!!!!!

Fifth Assignment: double exposures

First Double Exposure: We were tasked to combine 2 uniquely different images and create 1 great image. I combined a yellow Lily and the bark of a tree so the color of the Lily pops out against the brown rough texture  of the bark.

Second Double Exposure: This double exposure is a mirrored image. We had to take a landscape picture and mirror it so I took this photo of a beach in The Outer Banks, North Carolina.

Third Double Exposure: This Photo is of a beach again in The Outer Banks, North Carolina mixed with the stone seats in the court yard at Bettendorf High School. We were challenged to make a new surreal world by combining 2 images.

Forth Double Exposure: We had to overlay one image onto another but in only certain parts. I took a photo of statues of soldiers marching into war, combined with the Washington Monument, Jefferson Monument, and finally the Lincoln Monument. This image shows the soldiers marching for the country and men that fought for them earlier.

Second Assignment: Word Image

In this assignment we were assigned we had to create a image out of a word of our choosing. I chose the word "Life" because without life we wouldn't have love, laughter, or happiness. I included pictures in the word "Life" that reminded me of life. The first image in the letter "L" was of a sunrise. The second image in the letter "I" was a picture I took inside a cave looking out into the world behind the stone walls. The third image in the letter "F" was of flowers. Finally in the letter "E" I put in a picture of a bridge on a cliff. I really enjoyed making this word image it made me think about life and how great the things in it are.

Third assignment: Photo Scavenger hunt part 1

Photo 1: Good Morning. I used this photo because in the spring/summer in the morning before leaving for school I sit in my backyard and enjoy the morning sun when it's nice out and i usually look at this thermometer my family got from my Grandma.

Photo 2: When I look up. When I look up I see a tree that lost it’s leaves but is waiting for spring to grow them back. I choose this image because I saw myself in this tree. I don’t like showing my emotions so when “Winter” comes I feel exposed for awhile until “Spring”, when I can build my border again and not feel exposed.

Photo 3: Childhood Memory. I used this photo because I've never actually met my grandpa and I've only been to his grave and we used to do it a lot in my childhood but we don't go very much anymore.

Photo 4: Eyes. I used the photo of my eyes because they are open but in photos you can’t see my true eye color which is green so this photo shows how my eyes look in photos.

Photo 5: Broken. I choose a picture of Mrs. Bloome my old Digital Photography teacher for my broken photo, because in this photo she's split in two so she's separated from one side to the other

Photo 6: Faceless Self-Portrait.

I erased my face from this photo because it was too happy and when you take the face from the self portrait, it allows your mind to wander and imagine what the expression of the person is

Photo 7: Shoes. I used my converse because I usually wear converse and have for a while and they're so simple of a shoe.

Photo 8: Food. I love biscuits and gravy, I could eat them anytime of the day.

Photo 9: Tranquility. I used this photo of the inside of a cave from Maquoketa caves because I see it as looking out from a dark damp depression to the light warm outside which lies at the mouth of the cave

Fifth Double Exposure: Create a double exposure with text was our final task to complete in this assignment. I combined the saying that is inscribed onto the walls of the Lincoln memorial with a photo of Arlington Cemetery where hundreds of thousands of soldiers, generals, presidents, and anyone who served and lost there life for this country.

Sixth Assignment :High Contrast design

Step 1: find a image that would work when you went into Photoshop, deleted the background, clicked on image tab, gone into adjustments, clicked on threshold and adjusted it to the right balance of white and black.

Step 2: resize this and copy the layer multiple times then arrange them.

Step 3: End up with a cool background design and your ready for the next step.

Step 4: Color the image to your liking.

I colored mine to the rainbow which shows that the hands are unifying into one image even though there all different sizes, shapes, and directions. They all come together to make a image that is equal and balanced.

Eight Assignment: Watermarks

In this watermark we had to add a text watermark which shows our name and I choose to have O'Toole Photography in this Celtic style of font which suits this image.

For this watermark we had to make a imagery watermark with a logo and our initials. For me I choose a print style of font for my initials and a frilly french style of a logo.

Ninth Assignment: PSA Self Collage , Depression

For this project we had to research a topic for a PSA and take a series of photos, a minimum of 5, that corresponded with our  PSA. I choose depression because personally I have lots of friends with it and a lot of them don't get help and this is a really big deal for me. So this is a away for me to get the message out there that people need to get help cause you'll hurt yourself more if you be apart of that 64.1% that doesn't receive mental health treatment.

Photo 10: Fierce.  The soldiers in this photo are of vets who are marching off to war even though they are set in stone and can’t move they look so real and fierce that if you went up to one it would have the expression of war on there face

Photo 11: Speed. The fire in this photo is the eternal flame from Arlington cemetery and it is used to commemorate JFK. The photo shows the life of the flame and the life it immortalizes as it burns.

Photo 12: Landscape/Nature/Trees. I used this landscape because the area around Mount Vernon was beautiful and massive. I took so many photos of this one particular landscape but this photo shouted out the most to me because it had the path, the river, the sky, and the trees.

Seventh Assignment: Photo Scavenger Hunt Part 2:

1 Favorite part of the weekend: My favorite part of the weekend is spending time with friends and eating our hearts out with junk food.

2 Someone I love: I love my friend Danny like a sister. We are basically twins and she makes my life fun even though she is a pain in the neck a lot of the time.

3 The loss of human touch in the digital world: In every house there is a growing use of technology which separates humans from things that would have been considered everyday duties and got replaced by phones, iPad, tablets, televisions, etc. The modern world has gotten lazy and is losing its human touch.

4 Some people don't know about me: Something people don't know about me is that I'm all over the place. I love organization and crazy, I love things from cars to running, to photography to swimming to collecting shot glasses.

5 Imperfect: Evrett is very weird, crazy, nice, and imperfect yet perfect in his own way.

6 Capture an animals personality: The cats at my house are lazy and lay around all day and when the black cat (Jack) which is in the rocking chair gets up like to hiss at me for no reason.

7 Unique Selfie: I took a selfie with a dog filter from snap chat, then I put another layer on and for that layer I put a rainbow gradient. I used the eraser and 50% opacity to dull it and when I put my selfie back I then put a mosaic filter on the photo and made the tiles very small.

Tenth Assignment: Unique Self Portraits

Levitation:For this photo we were challenged to make it look like we were levitating off the ground, then we had to add something wings or other things to the image. I chose wings for my image because it was what made the most sense

Multiple me: For this photo we had to take multiple photos of ourselves and then move all over and make it look like there is multiple of us. I went to Wild Cat Den which is a park outside of Burlington IA. we then had to layer them all in Photoshop and make it look like it is all one image and not just copy and pasted. We will also be making this into an animation in the future.

8 Elderly: I choose this image of my grandma Vicki who made a huge impact in my life and for me elderly means growing wise.

9 A Gnomes view: I went down into the basement of my school and sat on the ground next to the window and took a picture of the court yard. I choose that spot because a Gnome is small and the court yard is huge so sitting on the ground made me think how small I was.

10 Show how a man-made structure has enhanced a landscape: When I was looking for inspiration I remembered I had a photo I took a long time ago of this old mill next to a creek and It really enhances the landscape because to me it's like the mill was meant to be there, even if the water wheel isn't there anymore it still looks beautiful where it is.

doppelganger: For this photo we had to use an app or a camera with a ghost lens so we could set a timer or something so we could have our face and body twice, interacting with ourselves. I took this photo with a slit lens app which allowed me to take on photo and then layer another on top with the same background but with you being able to move.

Multiple me animation: For this animation, we had to save the file for our multiple me photo then add an animation with multiple text and at least 1 prop. I choose a bomb because it fit will with my image and making me run away helped. Then end with nuclear explosion which I had to make another layer but it wasn't that hard. It was really fun and challenging to which I really liked and would do this project again.
