Breadth:

Unity: This image shows unity because the gold of the bowl, plate, and pitcher work together along with the red background and the beans. They all unify in one image.

Contrast: The contrast in this image is the light almost white plaster bust of George Washington and the black of its surroundings. The bust stands out and contrasts with the black.

Line: Line in this image is presented as the railing going across the image horizontally, the horizon line in the background, the ships being horizontal. There is multiple lines going horizontally in this image and depicts line very well.

Illusion of Motion: The illusion of motion is of the man walking toward the lighthouse. Even though the image is still it looks like her is walking but frozen in time.

Balance: The reflection in the shows balance because is basically a mirror so it shows both sides of whats in front of it.

Texture: In this image texture is shown by the repeating lumps and how they are smooth. The Calcium build up has numerous spheres which are smooth and allows for them to stand out in this image.

Shape: The shape in this image is the boxes stacked on top of each other and going around the circle evenly.

Emphasis: The emphasis in this image is the veterans hat by the thousands of names carved into the wall. This shows emphasis because the focal point is the hat and roses on the ground paying tribute to the veterans wall.

Proportion/Scale: The proportion in this photo is how small the people look to the massive size of the Wright Brothers replica plane. The people look so small compared to the plane.

Illusion of Space: The illusion of space in this image is the water and the boat floating in the water like a spaceship floats in space.

Value: The value in this image is the fire, it is clear as day and you can see the folds in the fire and how it is flowing.
Color: The color in this image is the brightness of the blue water which looks almost like its from a book and the beige of the sand.
In this part of the portfolio I loved editing the photos I choose. Personally I think I rushed the project a little but for me it still turned out good. I experimented with some of the photos like the line photo, I made it look like it was taken a 100 years ago but really it was taken last summer. I really like that photo and I find it a great representation of line because the railing, the boat, and the horizon are all going horizontally across the image. I think that my color image isn't my strongest image because it could have been edited more so the color would pop more easily, I do like the image but it could use more work.
Concentration: Cooking

What is the central idea of your concentration? The central idea of my concentration is cooking. How does the work in your concentration demonstrate the exploration of your idea? I really tried to show all the different parts of cooking because you need ingredients and a recipe of some sort, you cant just make something out of thin air and expect it to taste great, it takes work. How do your 12 pictures show a growth in your photography? These 12 photos show growth in my photography because I showed thought in my photos and not just snapping a photo here and there, I also got them all looking the same with the editing but they are all unique in there own way and it really is a growth from last year in digital photography.
In this part of my portfolio, I really emphasized my love of cooking, from the utensils, to the stove, to the cook books and ingredients it's all what I truly find wonderful about cooking. You can take simple ingredients like flour, sugar, eggs, butter, and turn them into something delicious like pancakes.
My favorite image from this set is the cookbooks because they were so inspiring to me. Now the image that I find needs more improving is the pancake at the top left hand corner of my set. It is kind of bland but I like it still it is just a rough cut and could use some more editing if I were to re do this set.

Quality series
In this last section of my portfolio we have to choose 5 of what we think are our best photos so we should show a mastery of design in the composition, concept, and execution of the works, whether they are simple or complex. We should show how much our photography has improved and what we have learned in this advanced portion of digital photography.

Why did you select this image? I chose this image because I made this photo look like it was taken 100 years ago and if fit really well in the line category in one of my assignments. What specifically about it makes it a good representation of your photography? I really like making my images clear and making things in them stand out and the lines in this image bring your eyes from the bottom left of the image up towards the horizon line where there is a couple of sail boats. How does the editing contribute to it being one of your best? It makes the image look older, like someone a 100 years ago took it. I also increased the clarity so you can see the grain of the wood.

Why did you select this image? I chose this image because it really portrays the message of what depression is like even though you can not see depression its more of the representation that makes the message stronger. What specifically about it makes it a good representation of your photography? The way I edited the images in this image, I made them dull colors of grey blue and yellow which gives a different voice to each photo.
How does the editing contribute to it being one of your best? I made them all different even though the message is the same each image in this image is different. Making the arm with cuts on it a dull shade of tan/yellow made the cuts themselves dark and makes them look fresh.I the happiness/sadness pair, I made them grey which made the emotion sad in the images and makes you thin. Finally in the sleeping image I made it black and white which when you sleep its usually at night but when you have depression you usually sleep a lot more and sleeping during the say is common.

Why did you select this image? I chose this image from my concentration part of my portfolio because I really like that it reminds me of home. For me as a photographer I tried bring out the emotion of my photos and this particular has a homey feeling to it and I think I really enhanced it in this image. What specifically about it makes it a good representation of your photography? This represents my photography because I like emotion and bringing that out in my images. The concentration part of my portfolio really helped me see that the emotion of images is really what my photography is about. How does the editing contribute to it being one of your best? I really tried to make this set a homey feeling. When you think of home you think of warm soft colors and a home cooked meal, and when I was editing it I enhanced the yellow/brown colors in the image so it was warm then I added a vignetting to it and that brings your eyes closer to the subject which in this case was the pot of stew.
I think I really grew and developed from the start of this quarter in advanced Digital photography to now. I started out taking tons of photos and not really thinking about what I was taking photos of. Now I think about the lighting, contrast, clarity, and everything else that I think about which has really enhanced my photography. In my other 2 portfolio sections I really improved the quality and steadiness of my images. With my projects they improved with the different techniques we learned and I was able to think more of what I was doing and not just trying to get them done in time. When I started Digital 1 I wasn't really skilled and I had a handful of work to do but as time progressed I learned more and more and really started to enjoy what I was doing and wanted to continue what I started. I'm really proud of my work in my breadth section of my portfolio because I used a variety of editing styles and I had the most fun with that section. I'm really proud of my use of space in the illusion of space portion of my breadth section because the boat looks like it will just float out into the sea. Im not to pleased with my concentration part of my portfolio because some images I would choose different things to take pictures of and some didn't really belong in that part of the portfolio. I would take they over and keep most of what I did but some of them I would do way differently.
My future plans for photography I really don't know what they are. I might study photography in college and try to get a job as a photographer but I honestly do not know.
I really enjoyed this class and wish there was another step up from this class.

Why did you select this image? I selected this image because I really liked that I made the orange sweatshirt the focal point of the image which is really dark and the person looking into the wall is getting a dulled reflection back. What specifically about it makes it a good representation of your photography? I think its a good representation of my photography because it looks like he is reflecting and even though the rest of the image is dull colors, his jacket is the focal point and stands out. How does the editing contribute to it being one of your best? I really tried to make the focal point this guys orange jacket because it looks like he is reflecting on something figuratively in his head and physically on the wall. With the background being really dark when I first started I made it bright by increasing the brightness and enhancing the colors in the image so the orange stands out greatly.

Why did you select this image? I chose this image because it made me think of soldiers marching off to battle and I really think it looks like a memory of a solider thinking of what they are protecting, the freedom and liberty of family and friends at home. What specifically about it makes it a good representation of your photography? I think its a great representation of my photography because I try to take photos of things that we are all in contact with and bring out their emotions and the emotion I personally get from this image is pride, anxiousness, and willingness to fight for whats right. How does the editing contribute to it being one of your best? I made the image a sepia type color so it looks like an old photo from the battle front. I also added photos of monuments I took pictures of ,which shows that they aren't the only ones who fought for their country and they are doing something that is for the life, liberty, and freedom of the country they love.
